Located in Wuxi on the shore of the picturesque Taihu Lake, Jiangnan University is a national key university under the “211 Project” and has been selected into the First‑Class Discipline Initiative of the Ministry of Education. Its history dates back to 1902, when its predecessor, Sanjiang Normal School, launched its first intake. In 1958, it became independent as Wuxi Institute of Light Industry. It merged with two other colleges in 2001 and was renamed Jiangnan University in 1902.

Covering an area of 208 hectares, the university consists of 24 schools with 3,420 faculty and staff members, 21,390 full‑time undergraduates, 14,160 postgraduates and 301 international students. Known as “the Pearl of China’s Higher Education in Light Industry and Textiles”, Jiangnan University adheres to its motto: “Diligence in Learning for Application, Rigor in Research for Truth”. It embarks on a new journey toward its strategic goal of “building a distinctive research‑oriented university”.
