Tracing its history, Hebei Bancheng Liquor is called Qing Yuan Heng Liquor, a 305-year workshop known as the exquisite couplet “金木水火土,板城烧锅酒” matched by emperor Qianlong and his minister Ji Xiaolan (This couplet is based on the Theory of Five Elements. “金木水火土” means “metal, wood, water, fire and earth”. “板城烧锅酒”, the counterpart, with only the left parts of the Chinese characters meaning wood, earth, fire, metal and water respectively, shows that the full meaning of the five Chinese characters can only be understood when the right parts appear, which suggests that the ministers are restricted by the monarch.) Relocated in 1956, the firm continues to inherit and develop its national-level brewing technology of Bancheng liquor. Over the past 60 years, it has owned 8 national patents and 124 registered trademarks as well as won more than 100 titles and awards, including “China Well-known Trademark”, “China Time-honored Brand”, “China Intangible Cultural Heritage”, “Products of Geographical Indications”, “National Quality Trustworthy Enterprise”, “Famous Chinese Liquor”, “Home of National Model Workers”, “National Model Enterprise with Harmonious Labor Relations”, “Youth Model Unit Award”, “National Model Enterprise of Assured Liquor Project”, “National Green Factory” and “Hebei Provincial Government Quality Award”. Covering an area of more than 600 mu, the firm, with more than 500 million total assets, has more than 1,000 employees. The company’s yearly capacity is 30,000 tons and its finished liquor storage capacity is 50,000 tons, which can meet 2.5 to 3 billion yuan in sales and production capacity.

 

In March 2018, Hebei Bancheng Liquor became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hengshui Laobaigan Group after the acquisition was approved by China Securities Regulatory Commission, giving wings to new Bancheng in the new era. As attracting investment around the country for five major products, the firm started to build the leading provincial liquor enterprises into a national brand by strengthening internal management and expanding overseas markets. It aims to build the first Chinese soft Luzhou-flavor liquors brand and be listed as a 10-billion liquor enterprise by focusing on products and expanding the nationwide market.
